The school was a 2,040 m2 pre-engineered steel building on a concrete to bedrock foundation. Energy efficient wall and roof systems were incorporated into the school along with the brick and metal siding and a mod-bit roof. This project also involved extensive Sewer & Water installations, upgrades to the Water Treatment Plant, renovation of the Poplar Hill Diesel Generating Station, two tri-plex teacherage units, hockey rink, and detailed landscaping. Some of the challenges on this project were the site location on a wooded rocky hill, rock blasting, mining for aggregates, and short-lived winter roads.
